A recent meeting of the Tenby Town Regeneration Team raised various issues around the resort, including a suggestion to increase storage facilities for harbour users on the North Walk.

A report from the meeting, brought before members of the town council at their meeting on Tuesday night, stated that local county councillor Mike Evans had been approached by the Sailing Club over the possibility of increasing storage facilities in that area alongside the North Beach, which would give the town the ability to host more large-scale sailing events.

Addressing matters from the discussions, the town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, told councillors that the idea was purely to look at funding possibilities at the moment, to increase storage on the raised section of the North Walk.

He also said that Alistair McKay of the Sailing Club had mentioned an ambitious project that could involve cutting back into the cliffs by the North Beach to provide extra space.

"We're talking about a quarter-of-a-million pound scheme here, so at the moment it's just something that the Regeneration Team are looking into to see what funding options are out there," explained Mr. Davies.

Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter felt that section of the cliff was particularly "precarious" and should be left alone.

She suggested a better option would be to look at ways of covering up the harbour sluice with decking, similar to Saundersfoot, which could provide more storage space and an overall safer zone for families to enjoy.

It was also reported to the meeting that things were progressing towards a potential change of ownership for the harbour, but that progress had been slow.

Other matters that had been discussed at the regeneration meeting, included a bid for funding for a cinema facility for the town.

Mr. Davies reported that he had spoken to Landsker Business Solutions on the matter, and they were going to prepare a costings brief for the study, and that it had been suggested by Clr. Evans that this could be used to go out to the market place for further tenders, and that everyone agreed on the principle of provision of a cinema somewhere in Tenby.
