STUDENTS at the Dean Academy in Lydney have raised £600 for the Oxfam Nepal Fund.
Aykut Atug, a Year Nine student at the academy, wanted to do something to help after reading newspaper articles about the disaster in a geography lesson.
Aykut said: "When I found out about the earthquake I felt that I needed to help."
A non-uniform day was organised and Aykut was delighted to have helped raise £600 for the Oxfam Nepal Fund.
Deputy headteacher, Mr Craig Burns said: "I admire our students for coming up with a quick and effective way of raising funds for those who are in desperate need of help and support; I'm sure the money raised will make a real difference to the families in Nepal."
