A KEY medical service based in Launceston has announced that it will be closed today.
Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, the body which overlooks the county’s healthcare provisions, has announced that X-Rays will not be available at Launceston Minor Injury Unit today, Tuesday, October 29.
Services at Launceston Hospital have been disrupted frequently in recent weeks, with closures of both the X-Ray and minor injuries unit.
The latest closure comes only days after Launceston Medical Centre announced that it would be running at a ‘very limited capacity’ due to staffing issues.
Despite X-Ray facilities being unavailable, the NHS trust has said that the Minor Injury Unit will remain open, however x-rays will not be available.
Patients are being asked to ‘check live wait times for your next nearest X-ray facility.’
Those in and around the Launceston area who may be in need of the service will instead need to travel to Bodmin Minor Injury Unit, Liskeard Minor Injury Unit, or Stratton Minor Injury Unit.
