A new, contemporary romance novel has taken its inspiration from the Cornish coast and sets the scene in a fictional village situated between Wadebridge and Port Isaac.

Finding Jack by Sofia Due,  is set in ‘St Illick’, North Cornwall. Sofia spends much of the time that she is not working in London in Cornwall and felt it the perfect place for a story of healing. 

“I wanted to set the book in Cornwall as I love the rugged North Cornwall coast, the smell of the air, and the fact that the day lasts longer on the west coasts,” says Sofia. “For me, the wide horizons and sense of breathing space makes it the perfect environment to take stock and recharge your batteries.”

Finding Jack is a story of love, loss, friendship, and second chances. 

Sofia works as a lawyer, specialising in asylum and human rights claims and often acts for victims of modern slavery. Her debut novel, Ed & Lily, was published in 2021. Finding Jack is her second novel.

Sofia added: “In my work, I act for a lot of people who have escaped war zones or experienced loss and bereavement. I wanted to write a book that explored what individuals needed to heal following these events and how helping someone else on their journey to recovery can help you too. I was interested in the relationship between a British soldier and a boy from Afghanistan and how their common understanding of the war united them.”
