IT has already been reported that current manager, Mickey Clarke, has decided to stand down at the end of the season although he will remain at the Club as a committee member, the Club offers its thanks to Mickey for his efforts over the years and it is pleased that he remains in an alternative role.
It is now announced that he will be superceded by Graham Bedford as manager and his long term associate Alan Lewis as coach. Both Graham and Alan have long experience in South Western Football having together run Clyst Athletic for three years, Stoke Gabriel, Buckfastleigh and Newton Abbott.
They both are looking to bring back local players to Holsworthy for the coming season. Having had a difficult year the aim is to start afresh to bring back to the town its past glories, the Club is long established and has a successful history which now needs rejuvenating. Both feel that with the backing of the committee this is achievable in a short space of time. However they are both aware that that some reshaping is necessary.
Graham said "We are seeing local players who have drifted from the Club in the past and these, plus existing first team players and a few recruits will form the nucleus of the squad for next season."
They are both keen to work closely with the second and third team managers to ensure the Club pulls in the right direction, they are confident about next season and the challenges it will bring.
Alan said "the type of football we want is open attacking play and the training sessions, to be held locally, will reflect this." (Alan is a EUFA B Class Coach).
The message is for local players to meet the new managerial team when pre- season training starts on a date to be arranged. Graham and Alan can be contacted on 07813 962255 and 07894 094186 respectively.
