NORTH Cornwall's MP Dan Rogerson was again in Boscastle recently to support local residents in their battle against
flooding.
After pressure from local councillors, residents and the MP, Cornwall County Council has installed a new road hump, which should divert rainwater more effectively off the bridge. New drains have also been installed to help prevent flooding.
Local campaigners say the measures may not be enough to keep water from the doors of their homes and business, but residents hope the measures will make a difference.
Mr Rogerson said: "It's by no means clear that this slope is steep enough to stop rainwater gushing into the village during a serious downpour.
"However, it should make some difference, and it's a testament to the tenacity of local people that we have persuaded the Highways Department to make this effort.
"Time will tell whether this will be sufficient, but whatever the outcome I will be with residents and traders in Boscastle
arguing their corner.
"It's not right that
people should have their homes and livelihoods imperilled every time we get heavy rain."
