THERE are two new faces at Camelford Town Council — a new town clerk and administration assistant.
Esther Greig is the new town clerk and will be starting with the council part-time from Monday, February 23 (Mondays and Fridays) and then full-time from Monday, March 6.
Esther brings with her vast experience and is also a resident in North Cornwall.
Esther said: “I am very pleased to have been appointed to the post of Camelford Town Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer. I have been a parish clerk for nearly seven years. I am currently clerk to St Gennys, Whitstone, North Tamerton and Week St Mary; unfortunately, some of which I will no longer be able to continue with.
“My background is financial services, having been an independent financial adviser and an underwriter for several large corporate organisations.
“I’m also an active member of the Crackington Haven Tennis Club, and I am Treasurer of the Crackington Surf Life Saving Club.”
Esther added: “I am looking forward to helping Camelford accept the devolution of its library services, and moving the office to the town hall over the next few months. Feel free to pop by to introduce yourself and express any ideas or concerns you have for town services or events. I wish Lee Dunkley good luck in his position at St Agnes, and I look forward to meeting and working with you all soon.”
Amanda Musgrave is the new administration assistant, who will be supporting the clerk and the council as it embarks on preserving and developing new services for the town.
Amanda most recently worked as marketing manager for Happy Days South West, and before then for the Moor and Coastal Partnership Trust, a Cooperative Education Trust which serves Camelford and seven other local schools.
Amanda managed and secured funding for the Journeys Arts Festival in 2015 which brought together over 250 local children and communities, culminating in the show itself at Sterts Theatre.
She brings with her a wealth of administrative, marketing and communications expertise.
Outgoing clerk, Lee Dunkley who has left to work with St Agnes Town Council said: “I’ve enjoyed my three years in Camelford working with some great people and organisations. Some key highlights for me have been the granite poppy at Valley Truckle to commemorate the start of the First World War; the improvements at Churchfield car park which makes short-stay, long-stay and disabled parking much clearer (and the electric car charge point is a novelty!); the development of the events group that have organised really memorable moments (who will forget the Josh Curnow performance?!); and the growth of the council to provide lots more services.
“I wish everyone at the council and in the community the very best for the future, particularly with the library, the neighbourhood plan, and air quality management.”
