At the lunch meeting at Bowood Park Hotel on Tuesday, June 19, Bill Dixon, Camelford Rotary Club President for 2009-10, installed David Flanders as the club President for the next 12 months. The Rotary Club of Camelford was formed in 1965 and since that date has been very actively supporting people and projects locally and overseas. A club spokesman said: "The club's aims for the next year are very varied but we will always be there for local residents in the area to help in whatever way possible." In the past year the club has held the Youth Speaks Competition, mock interviews, the Deli Farm Run and presented the first Citizen of the Year Award. The marquee that the club has for hire, has been used by many organisations and families and helps them raise money for charity. The club has donated money to many good causes locally as well as taking part in the International Rotary/Bill Gates challenge to eradicate polio. If you are interested in finding out more the Rotary Club of Camelford and would possibly like to join them or help in their very worthwhile organisation, please contact the secretary on 01840 212497 or any member of the club.
