A commemorative Blue Plaque in memory of Welsh poet and writer Alison Bielski, who lived and wrote at Romola House, Cob Lane, Tenby, has been unveiled at the property.
Alison, who died last July, was very inspired by the Pembrokeshire coast and wrote numerous poems about the area, especially Caldey Island and Tenby, where the family lived for many years over three periods from 1960-1990.
In addition to her poetry, she wrote and had published, the Tales and Traditions of Old Tenby, and her book, 'The history of the Welsh Dragon' was chosen as one of the official souvenirs on the Investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1969, chosen by a panel chaired by Lord Snowdon. This book was written in Tenby and illustrated by Claude Page, who also lived in Tenby, and re- printed many times by H. G. Walters, of Tenby.
Alison, who had written and had published many books and collections of her poetry and many books of Welsh myths and legends too, was honorary joint secretary of the Welsh Academy, the National Association of Writers in Wales for five years.
The plaque was put up by her family last month, and by coincidence, the owner of the house was a friend of Alison's husband from many years ago.
The family would like to thank Wayne Davies who put up the plaque.
