IT was a jolly occasion when Teignmouth's new £3 million pub, the Jolie Brise opened.

A choir sang a specially composed song, and the mayor, Cllr Jacqui Orme, cut the ribbon at the Wetherspoon outlet in Station Road on Tuesday.

The 100 or so staff had been in hard training for the launch, and all went well as customers flocked through the doors to see for themselves how the millions were spent. For the vast majority it was a favourable thumbs-up.
