ORGANISERS of the Coleford Music Festival have announced a new cash prize competition for scarecrows that will run alongside the main event.
Organiser Vicki Thornton told the Review: "As a part of the celebrations we are inviting town centre traders, local community groups and businesses to join us in the festivities by creating their very own scarecrows.
"Anything goes, entrants can choose the festival music theme of famous rock icons, or any style of their choice.
They can then either show them off in, on, or outside your shop or business premises, or they can let us strategically place them in and around Coleford town centre."
She added: "Scarecrows must be on display from the August 2-9."
There will be two cash prizes awarded for the best scarecrow, with £100 going to the top design, and £50 for second place.
An entry form for the competition is available on the Coleford Music Festival website, and this should be returned to Coleford Town Council.
