ABERGAVENNY will be marking the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt next month with a major event at the town's castle and museum.
The commemorations, on June 6, will kick off with a medieval fayre at the castle organised in conjunction with the Tithe Barn, which will see the Freemen of Gwent setting up camp in the castle grounds and allowing visitors a glimpse of life in an authentic 1415 settlement.
The day will also see demonstrations of authentic cooking and crafts, such as tablet weaving and sewing.
There will be spinning on a great wheel (the type that Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger on), a bow maker, an arrow maker and a maille maker. Weapons and armour will also be on display. There will be musical instruments, a game called Aunt Sally for the public to play, archery demonstrations, dress a knight and shoot a knight. There will also be a skirmish.
There will also be activities provided by the Tithe Barn - Pilgrimage walks from the Castle to the Priory, a blacksmith, stone cutter, lace makers and crochet and tapestry stitchers. Childrens activities and crafts, storytelling and costume.
Tickets will be available on the gate priced at £5 for adults, £3 for children and £15 per family.
