THE community of Port Isaac came together to mourn the tragic death of Trevor Frederick Grills, one of its own, when they attended his funeral on Friday in St Endellion Church. He was a leading member of the Fisherman's Friends sea shanty group, from Port Isaac, who was killed in an accident at a Surrey theatre.

His body had been brought from Port Isaac where it had been received into St Peter's Church the previous evening and where it remained all night.

An hour and a half before the service, there was standing room only within the church, and by 2pm over 500 people filled the building with 150 outside braving the bitter cold and listening to the service which was relayed outside.
