THE Mare and Foal Sanctuary’s Upcott Park, based near Holsworthy, is inviting visitors to come and meet the 43 horses that call it home.

The sanctuary opened in 2014 in an aim to provide more space to help the charity rescue more horses in need.

Yard manager, Tracey Dixon, said: “On Saturday, November 26, from 10am to 3pm, sanctuary staff will be on hand to give tours, talk to visitors about our work and show how far the site has come in the last two years.

“We’ve had great support from the local community, and we’d encourage anyone to pop along for a chat and to have a look around.”

As the weather in North Devon in November can be wet and chilly, the sanctuary is encouraging visitors to wrap up warm and come prepared; there is even a prize on offer for the best pair of wellies worn.

There will be plenty of tea and coffee to keep visitors warm as they explore the sire and make friends with the horses.
