Camelford Town Band has welcomed Matt Stedman (pictured above) as their Musical Director. He moves from player to conductor as he takes over from Ann Brown who was with the band for a number of years. Matt, from Camelford, has been a member of the band playing euphonium for 16 years, and had not done any conducting before taking on this position. Matt said: "I felt it was time for a change from playing, to try something new, and with the encouragement and support of the band members thought I would give it a go." The band is continuing to gain new players, and have vacancies for cornet, trombones and bass players. Within the last 12 months the band have formed a successful learner group, and now have 18 players, mostly youngsters but also mums and dads too!
