A BUDE man has been awarded an MBE for his work with the The 2 Minute Foundation.

Martin John Hamilton Dorey from Bude was a part of the New Year’s Honours list for 2023, receiving an MBE for his services to recycling and the environment.

Martin is the founder of the #2minute campaign, a registered charity devoted to cleaning up the planet two minutes at a time.

Martin explained: “I am very pleased to receive the honour, and also surprised. I am very grateful to those who put me up for it for their belief in me and what I have done. So yes, in short, pleased and surprised.

“The 2 Minute Foundation is now a charity with a new CEO and a great team. They continue to inspire, run a beach school in Bude and do outreach. Meanwhile, my environmental books have been translated into more than 10 languages and are travelling round the world. Let’s hope it makes a difference!

“I am busy writing books at the moment and have plans for more environmental subjects.”
