Launceston Community Market was delighted to make a donation to Moorvision recently.

Moorvision offers support, information and advice to children and young people with vision impairment aged zero to 25 years, and their families, in Devon and Cornwall. They also welcome families from Somerset and Dorset.

Moorvision currently has over 230 families receiving support, who have children with a wide range of vision impairments and many with additional needs. They also have a small group of parent/carers with vision impairment.

They offer information, advice, support, activities, residential trips and shared experiences for families of children and young people. Activities include sports, science, nature, music and audio described theatre. They especially recognise the importance of including siblings in their work.

Vision impairment is one of the least common disabilities of childhood and it can be hard for these children and their families to meet others in the same position.

As well as activities, Moorvision offers information and advice on all aspects of care for a vision impaired child and can signpost families to relevant organisations for further help. They also have an active Facebook page and more information is available at www.moorvision.org

The Community Market meets every Friday morning at Central Methodist and would welcome any suggestions for the next charity or good cause to receive a donation.
