Margaret Perkin of Lewdown will be taking part in a sponsored tandem skydive at Dunkeswell on April 24, the day after her 74th birthday. The skydive will be in aid of St Peter's Church Lewtrenchard Development Fund. Margaret explained: "This beautiful little church is well known mainly because of the connection with Sabine Baring Gould, the one time Squarson of Lewtrenchard. However, it is difficult for disabled and elderly people to negotiate the rather steep steps into the churchyard, so the development fund has been set up to provide a car park giving disabled access to the church, and a small meeting room with a kitchen and toilets. It is hoped that this will be of benefit to all visitors to the area as well as those visiting the church." This will be Margaret's first attempt at anything so adventurous but she said she was looking forward to the experience: "After all, if I don't do it now, when will I?" Anyone wishing to support Margaret by sponsoring her may do so by completing the sponsor form in Copper's Stores, Lewdown or by contacting her directing at Lew Mill on 01566 783287.
