IN this feature the Post has teamed up with Bob Willingham from Studio Southwest to bring you the ‘Best of Bude’.
In this eighth tribute, the last personality, Len Tozer, has nominated Margaret Frost.
Len said: “I have nominated Margaret as without any doubt, she is the best of Bude. A lady with a heart of gold who has contributed unstintedly to the local community in so many ways.
“Fifty years or more associated and working for Bude town band: jumble sales, auctions, helping with musical events, selling all kinds of items to raise money for the band. She is and irreplaceable member of the band committee. Margaret must have sold you on Armistice poppy working through the British Legion.”
Len added: “Her irresistible smile will greet you when you go for a cup of tea and a piece of home-made cake to the family tea garden at Northcott Mouth. Here she has raised hundreds of pounds for all worthy causes, local organisations and individuals by hosting afternoon refreshments.
“She doesn’t suffer fools lightly however being a local girl, through her knowledge and energy no one can ever escape being her friend in time of need.
They don’t come any better than Margaret.”
