WHILST on a walk with his dog and young children, a man witnessed two young men performing a ‘lewd act’ in plain sight in woodland near Holsworthy.
Holsworthy Woods are on the Clawton Road and are often frequented by dog walkers. The man who witnessed the incident took to Facebook to share his concerns and warn other users of the area.
The man wrote: “If anyone goes to Holsworthy woods on the Clawton Road beware! I took the dog and the two youngest girls for a walk there after school. It was quite busy, with the usual assorted dog walkers, but I noticed two young men coming out of the woods and getting something from their car they walked on past the picnic area.”
The man had been sorting his two young children out with their wellies ahead of what was supposed to be a nice family dog walk in the local woods.
This meant it was five minutes or so before they made their way up the path. However, their walk was soon to be tarnished by what they came across. He said: “I was sorting the kids with wellie boots etc so it took me about five minutes to walk up the path myself.
“As I passed the picnic area on the other side of the path, just off the path, but still on view I saw the two men engaged in a lewd act”
The man explained that he quickly hurried his two girls away from the area and was ‘quite annoyed’.
Although this behaviour is not illegal it was distressing for the family involved.
Essentially sex or nudity isn’t illegal and it comes down to whether the witness finds the act lewd and offensive or feels they have been harmed by what they have seen.
Offering the public some advice a police spokesperson said: “If anybody has seen anybody engaging in sexual activity in public and was affected by what they saw, report it to the police. Those who are partaking in these actions could run the risk of outraging public decency and could be arrested.”
