A Milford man is set to appear at Swansea Crown Court next month, charged with possessing a knife in a public place.
Twenty-year-old Daniel William Phillips, of Chestnut Way, pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing a knife in public at Milford Haven's Mount Estate, when he appeared before magistrates in Haverfordwest on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that at around 5.30 pm, on April 21, police in the area received a number of phone calls to say a man had been seen walking around the estate carrying a knife and arguing with people.
"One witness said it looked like a butcher's knife with a long 18 to 20-inch curved blade. A number of other people also rang the police with their concerns.
"The defendant was arrested and the knife was recovered at a neighbouring property. Mr. Phillips initially denied the offence when interviewed, but was picked out at an identification procedure.
"In the end, he simply said that he'd had an argument with his mother. It's a very worrying incident that he had a temper in a public place with a knife in his hand," added Mr. Pritchard-Jones.
Mr. Phillips's solicitor, Robyn Reed, told magistrates that there was no suggestion that his client had brandished the knife to cause threat or fear to anyone.
Magistrates transferred the matter to Swansea Crown Court, where Mr. Phillips, who was released on unconditional bail, will now appear on July 3, for a further hearing.
