A MAN who died in a car crash just outside Usk last week has been named.
John Shermer Llewellyn, 82, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on the southbound A449 near the Usk turn-off.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident which happened just after 3.30pm last Thursday.
Mr Llewellyn was one of three elderly occupants - all in their 80s and from the Cardiff area - in the orange Renault Captor when it crashed.
The driver has since been discharged from Nevill Hall while the other passenger remains in a stable condition at the hospital.
Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the accident or noticed the distinctive car shortly before the tragedy.
A police spokesman said, "This is a busy stretch of road with lots of traffic on it at the time.
"It's a distinctive vehicle - so I would hope that someone would have information that could help us.
"I would ask anyone who witnessed this incident to contact us - or anyone who saw the vehicle beforehand - to call us on 101, quoting log 334 of June 25."
