The Mayor of Tenby has congratulated all athletes who took part in the Long Course Weekend held in the resort.
Speaking at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council, Mayor, Clr. Paul Rapi, said that the event was "fantastic" for the town.
"I shook a lot of sweaty hands on Sunday when I was giving out the medals to runners, and it was great to hear such a large amount of them comment on how fantastic the whole event was and what a beautiful town Tenby is," he said, before congratulating his fellow councillor, Clr. Hayden Johns, on successfully taking part too.
Clr. Lawrence Blackhall said that the expo held at the De Valence over the past few days had also been a great success and thanked everyone for the efforts put in to make the event happen.
Clrs. Will Rossiter and Trevor Hallett said that the only issue they had come across over the weekend was the loud sound system in Tudor Square which a few people had complained about starting too early in the morning.
"People were woken up at 6.30 am, with someone testing the system," remarked Clr. Will Rossiter.
"The volume was a bit OTT, people staying in Tenby who didn't know about it had a rude awakening," added Clr. Hallett.
Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter felt it was a bit petty to complain about the noise for one day.
"Yes there maybe one or two issues, but I'm sure that the organisers Activity Wales will take on board any issues and put them right next year," said Clr. Blackhall.
"The Long Course Weekend started five years ago and led to Ironman Wales coming to Tenby. It has revolutionised the health of young people in the area and we should be celebrating every bit of what is a phenomenal event for the town," he added.
Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown said that the event was great for Tenby's economy and asked for a letter to be sent to Activity Wales to congratulate them on another successful spectacle.
