THE Port Isaac RNLI has received a cheque for £1,264 from the Port Gaverne Hotel, after they made a donation to the branch from each lobster dinner that was sold.

The 17th century hotel has donated money to the RNLI for the past few years. This year, landlord David Barnard and his staff decided to donate £1 from every lobster dish sold, with lobsters sourced from the Port Isaac bay. Supportive members of the community and visitors to the restaurant managed to, between them, eat 1,264 locally sourced lobsters, meaning a grand total of £1,264 was raised and, recently, the hotel presented the cheque to Port Isaac RNLI members and committee.

Mr Barnard said: “The RNLI is just such a treasured service around here, which is offered to everyone. We’re a tight community here in Port Isaac, so we all do a lot to help different causes.”
