FIRE fighters in Launceston are preparing to don their uniforms, get their buckets and wash some cars in an effort to raise funds for charity.
Crew members at Launceston Community Fire Station are getting ready for their annual charity car wash, providing residents’ cars with a much needed clean all while raising money for a good cause.
The event which is running on Saturday, March 29, from 10am until 2pm at Launceston Fire Station will see the team using their training for a new purpose, putting the jets and hoses to use.
Residents are invited to attend, paying a donation of their choice which will go towards the Firefighters Charity.
The organisation works to ensure that current and former firefighters and their loved ones can easily access information, advice and support.
This includes support in making positive lifestyle changes, or help with recovery from injury or illness.
A spokesperson from the charity said: “We do all we can to support every member of the UK’s fire family. By providing easy access to proactive health and wellbeing information and lifestyle advice, specific to the fire community, we want to help our community to live well throughout their lives. But, when something goes wrong and a need arises, we are always there too.
“From our innovative, centre-based residential programmes, to a whole of host of digital solutions, we do all we can to give our beneficiaries the physical and psychological support they need, wherever they are in the UK.”
A spokesperson from Launceston Community Fire Station added: “We are delighted to share that “Annie B’s Whippy” ice cream van will be joining us at our charity car wash on March 29. If that’s not a reason to visit and get your car washed then I don’t know what is!
“Anne will be donating a percentage of her takings to the Firefighters Charity.”
