After a break due to the pandemic, the Victorian Market returned to Launceston last week with a huge support.

Stalls were made up of local charities and organisations raising awareness of what they do and fundraising for their causes.

Launceston Foodbank, Man Down, LVFS, Launceston in Bloom, Children’s Hospice South West, Launceston & District U3A, Launceston Inner Wheel Club, Launceston Lions, Launceston Guides and Launceston Hospital League of Friends were busy throughout the day.

The prize for ‘Best Dressed Stall’ was won by Launceston in Bloom with their pinnies and mopped caps.

The Mayor Cllr Helen Bailey commented: “They looked fabulous, they had a stall showing all the amazing projects they are working on around the town and look forward to many new members joining in with them.”

The ‘Best Dressed Lady’ of the day was won by Ann Boundy from the Inner Wheel Club of Launceston.

Mayor Cllr Bailey and Deputy Mayor Cllr Nicola Gilbert enjoyed judging the competition and look forward to more entries next year.

The market this year was organised by Cllr Margaret Young and Cllr Helen Bailey on behalf of the town council and the Rotary Club of Launceston. “We look forward to building on the success of this year for next year’s event”, said Cllr Bailey.

“Launceston Town Band had everyone dancing and singing as they perused the different stalls, a very hot day but the band did the town proud once again. Thank you to Anne Brown and your talented musicians.

Cllr Bailey added: “Thank you to Steve and Jack Lankston who supported the event in setting up, and to everyone who came along to make the event a success this year. See you all next year!”
