STUDENTS in Launceston have been learning all about determination, self belief, and mental health.
Young people at St Stephen’s Community Academy in Launceston have had a special assembly exploring mental health.
Last week, Year 3 and Year 4 received an online presentation from the Youth Mental Health Organisation. The session was led by Jade who spoke about her own life experiences, her struggles , her perseverance and personal growth.
Students and staff discussed people who inspire us and thought about our dreams and how we can achieve anything we want with determination and self belief.
The event coincided with Youth Mental Health Day 2024. Each year, the occasion aims to raise awareness and shine a spotlight on the struggles of young people, with this year’s focus being on ‘Stop the Scroll’.
Maura Furber, headteacher at the school said: “We know that we all have different talents and in the words of Albert Einstein “we are all geniuses.” At St Stephens Community Academy we know the best dreams happen when you are awake .
“We also know that our mental health is as important as our physical health . It’s going to be an amazing year.”
