Launceston Leisure Centre has announced that it will be closed for the rest of the day following an 'incident'.

The centre will be closed for the rest of the day (Tuesday, July 18), with all scheduled swimming lessons being cancelled.

A spokesperson said: "Due to an incident in the park the centre will be closed for the remainder of today Tuesday, July 18.

"Swim School lessons today are cancelled."

They added: "We will be open tomorrow at our usual times. We apologise for any inconvenience."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) confirmed: “We were called at 10.42am to an incident in Launceston. We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer and an air ambulance.” 

Devon and Cornwall Police were also in attendance. A spokesperson confirmed: "We were contacted by the ambulance who were at Launceston Leisure Centre as a person was suffering a medical episode."
