THE Farnham Theatre Association has accused Waverley councillors of displaying "a shaky hold on truth" in seeking to demolish the Redgrave Theatre ahead of the publication of a new business plan to restore the performing arts venue to its former glory.
Last week Waverley Borough Council's development partner Crest Nicholson unveiled plans to begin demolition of the now-derelict theatre this summer as part of the Brightwells scheme.
But in a last-gasp bid to save the Redgrave, those campaigning for its restoration as a performing arts venue have challenged councillors' "inaccurate and unfounded" claims that the theatre is not a viable proposition and could not form a central feature of the development.
