A LAUNCESTON mother and daughter are to take part in the 2009 London Playtex Moonwalk

Tina and Rachel Davey are to take part in the 2009 London Playtex Moonwalk in aid of Walk the Walk (a charity dedicated to raising money for vital breast cancer causes).

They will be joining 14,998 other walkers setting off at midnight on Saturday, May 16 and hope to complete the 26-mile route in time for breakfast the next day. The event starts in Hyde Park and follows the London Marathon route.

TRAINING

They have been training seriously since January and are out and about on alternate nights during the week, plus Sundays.

Tina and Rachel are currently doing seven-mile walks on week nights and last Sunday did sixteen miles.

Their mileage will gradually increase to twenty a fortnight before the event and they can then take a breather, as in the last two weeks of training they only have to walk fifteen miles per week.

As well as training, they have to decorate their bras to wear at the event and we hear that they are currently working on a prototype!

The wearing of a decorated bra to take on this challenge is the Walk the Walk trademark and one of the reasons that this event raises so much awareness for this charity.
