THE Kingsley Centre is welcoming wildlife into its garden this spring with its new wood stack.

"As part of our wildlife project, which has been made possible with funding from Hampshire County Council, we made a wildlife stack to encourage invertebrates, such as ladybirds, into the garden, which in turn helps to control garden pests such as aphids," explained community project worker Lynne Jeffery after Tuesday's creative session.

"A stack can also provide refuge for frogs, toads and hedgehogs," she added.

"We have a couple more happenings in the garden - building a compost bin and talking about what makes good compost on May 12 and making a wildlife crate full of flowers that will attract wildlife on June 2.

"Later in the summer, we hope to make a pond and in the autumn we will be making willow bird feeders."
