PUPILS at two Forest school ran their own versions of the General Election.

Youngsters at Bream and Newnham St Peter's primary school formed their own parties and candidates produced their own manifestos.

Pupils at Newnham had a choice between parties including the Unicorn, Sunshine and Elf parties while at Bream there was the Smartie, Spotlight, Deel Party and Starforce parties.

The winning policy at Bream came from the Starforce party who campaigned for a breakfast club.

Natalie Frey, a Year Five and Six teacher at Newnham St Peter's, said: "We've been working on understanding what the General Election is about and how adults make decisions about who to vote for.

"They've read the leaflets I've had through my door and a lot of them talked about the NHS and cutting taxes for their parents as well as some other more child-based policies."
