THE children of a Wye Valley village cooked up a big breakfast for the village's adults on Bank Holiday Monday.
The youngsters took over the village hall at The Narth near Monmouth and used its facilities to serve around 100 full English breakfasts to the local community and visitors to the area.
Nobody can remember how long this annual event has been staged but it has been going for at least a decade with a constant stream of young people taking part in preparing the ingredients, cooking the food, waiting on the tables and washing up.
The team this year were under the direction of university student Tara Addison-Nichols who studied catering while at school.
Two former catering chefs also made use of the Big Breakfast themselves and said that the youngsters had done a magnificent job. They added that that preparation and service of around 100 breakfasts for the village was a great learning experience for them.
A small charge was made to customers, who filled out the venue that was laid up for families to enjoy their breakfast together.
The profits from previous Big Breakfasts have always been donated to a children's charity and the young volunteers have chosen the Rainbow Trust as this year's beneficiary as it supports families that has a child with a life threatening or terminal condition.
