X Factor finalist Jay James Picton swapped his microphone for his football boots when he took part in a charity match at Premier League ground Swansea City.

Jay, who hails from Saundersfoot and shot to stardom in the ITV pop show last winter, played in the annual Swans Aid celebrity football match at the Liberty Stadium.

The day was a massive success with around 10,000 people supporting the event. Last year, over £55,000 was raised for Swans Aid which provides for five local charities.

This year, the event has been hailed as even more successful and hopes are high that bumper sums will be collected again.

Among Jay's fans in attendance were his dad Terry Picton, aunt and uncle Sue and Mick Perry and players from Saundersfoot Athletic Football Club (who Jay nicknamed #FOOTMANIA #ONEVILLAGE).

Before Jay was accepted onto the X Factor, the former Royal Navy fitness instructor managed the 'Super Seconds' at Saundersfoot and was the club's fitness and conditioning coach. And whilst Jay was hitting the big stage on TV, the Seconds gained promotion and were a goal difference away from winning the league.

Clubmates who attended the Swansea match proudly wore Saundersfoot shirts and after the match were invited up to the VIP lounge at the Liberty for a catch-up with Jay and to meet some of his new teammates, including rugby legend Shane Williams and former Swansea footballer Lee Trundle.

Jay donated the shirt he wore at the match to Saundersfoot Sports Club, while he also gave a plug to their quest to find a new first team manager.

Off the pitch, Jay has been voted number 10 in Heat Magazine/Heat World/ FHM's Top 100 Hottest Hunks, while 22-month-old daughter Nova has just been made the face of Asda nappies.

"Both Victoria and I are extremely proud and nappy (happy)!" quipped Jay.

A spokeswoman for Asda said: "Nova is a lovely, happy, smiley little girl and is perfect for our Little Angels range. She's a natural in front of the camera, just like her dad!"

Jay has two local performances coming up. He will be the opening act at Milford Fish Festival at Milford Fish Docks on Saturday, June 27, while he will be a special guest at Pembroke Castle on July 5, supporting Classical Brit award-winners Only Men Aloud, alongside West End performer Sophie Evans and Tenby Male Choir.
