NEXT year will see an exciting year for scouting in Bude. Twenty-four members from 1st Bude Scout Group along with scouts from Porth Emmet Explorer Unit will be camping at the International Scout Centre at Kandersteg in Switzerland.

The centre plays host to thousands of scouts every year from all over the world and has the atmosphere of a permanent Jamboree due to it’s own popularity.

The scouts will be able to take part in hiking, tobogganing and river rafting, and will also be able to hike into the mountains for an overnight stop!

The older scouts will have a chance to go ice climbing, snow trekking and white water rafting.

There are also many international events for everyone at the centre including barbeques, campfires and lots of time for meeting scouts from different countries!

But of course none of this comes cheap and the scouts are busy fundraising to help with the cost.

Their next event is a 900-mile sponsored cycle ride in the Bude triangle on Saturday, July 1.

All are welcome to come along to watch, or to buy a cake or join in with the face painting. All proceeds to go to the trip.
