LAST week, the Post received a request from the other side of the world — Christchurch, New Zealand, to be precise.

The request came from a retired professor of Nature Conservation, Ian Spellerberg, who is hoping readers can help him.

He has been researching the history, use and design of milk cans and has published a book on the subject. He has the largest private collection of about 280 examples from 21 different countries.

He has found photographs (late 19th century) of what are known as ‘Cornish milk cans’ but despite much research he cannot find any information about them.

He said: “There must be some readers who know something about Cornish milk cans.”
