THE sun was shining for the inaugural Callington Town Market recently, which was officially opened by Portreeve and Mayor Cllr Suzan Tolman accompanied by Town Crier, Tony Stentiford.
The market was buzzing with a huge turnout from the community who had come to support this new initiative to encourage people to shop and buy locally. There was a lot of interest in the vast array of stalls, which numbered nearly thirty; very encouraging for the first market.
Tamar Grow Local opened their new café which is located in the Pannier Market.
The market has taken months of organising by Callington Town Council with the support of the Town Forum, One Callington, various other groups and local residents.
The monthly Market will be held on the first Sunday of each month from 10am until 3pm in the Pannier Market, Callington.
The next market will be on Sunday, August 4.
