A ROAD which has been subject to much local scrutiny has been penciled in for improvement works.
Windmill Hill in Launceston has been the subject of concern for many local residents, who are worried about the road’s condition, the number of potholes and the danger it poses to both motorists and pedestrians.
One resident reported there have been several falls on the hill – which connects to a local primary school - due to the unsatisfactory repairs causing a large amount of gravel to slip on.
Another resident described it as being in a “disgusting state”.
However, having contacted local councillors and MPs, residents finally received the news they wanted to hear.
Cornwall councillor and Launceston town councillor, John Conway confirmed that the road has now been issued with dates for resurfacing works to be carried out.
He said: “I have been informed that Windmill Hill in Launceston will be closed from August 19 to 30 for resurfacing works.”
Following the announcement, residents have expressed their thanks and delight that improvements have been scheduled for the street.
Cllr Conway added: “The idea is to resurface whilst the school is closed, the road is unlikely to attract much holiday traffic.”
