Launceston Town Council, generously supported by the Orchard Centre, was delighted to bring ‘Arthur’s Club Live’ to Launceston. 

More than 200 pupils from St Catherine’s, St Joseph’s and St Stephen’s schools sat agog as ‘Squirrel’, played by Becca Hulbert, took them on an adventure of fun, awe and trepidation across seas to lands lost in the mists of time. Importantly, each story contained a subliminal message about being confident and secure in who the children are. 

A fully inclusive performance, Squirrel used Makaton signing throughout ensuring that all pupils could enjoy and experience the event. The varied pace, meant the youngsters engaged from beginning to end, with the stories moving from quiet pensive moments to raucous crazy dancing — Arthur’s Club had it all! 

Pat Orridge, managing director and town councillor, as well as Margaret Young, a trustee of the Orchard Centre, agreed to Orchard subsidising the ticket price ensuring as many youngsters as possible could attend this live event. 

Becca said: “It was such a pleasure performing the show, the children were utterly brilliant, and thank you for understanding the true importance of inclusion. 

“Today was exactly what I set out to achieve by creating Arthur’s Club!”
