On one of the hottest days of the year Launceston and District Cats Protection held their annual open day at Hexworthy Barton, Lawhitton.

Inside a large marquee and several gazebos numerous stalls were set up selling a variety of donated goods as well as tombolas and raffles for a chance to win a prize. Delicious home-made refreshments proved ever popular, plus much appreciated ice creams and cold drinks to combat the heat of the day.

Visitors were able to see the cats and kittens in their pens that were up for adoption and volunteers were on hand to give advice in this respect.

Sue Medland, fundraising team leader, said: “We are delighted to report that we raised just under £2,000 which is an astounding amount. Equally importantly, reservations were made for the majority of those cats and kittens which, in turn, leads to new homes and is a major part of how we help cats in our care.

“Launceston and District Cats Protection would like to extend a huge thank you to all who made the day such a tremendous success, both supporters and helpers alike. It certainly couldn’t happen without you. Thanks must go to Mary and Chris who, once again, kindly allowed use of their beautiful grounds in which to hold this event.”
