SELFLESS work by people in the Forest and Wye Valley has been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
Two OBEs, two MBEs and a BEM (British Empire Medal) have been awarded to people living in the area.
They include Rich Daniels of Coleford – the chairman of HOOF (Hands Off Our Forests), the campaign to prevent the sell-off of England's public Forests – and former Ruardean postmistress Edith Duberley.
Mr Daniels receives the MBE for services to the Forest of Dean and Forestry throughout the UK.
Mrs Duberley was awarded the BEM for services to the community in Ruardean.
There were OBEs for Joffre Carroll, of Mayhill, the chief executive of the Boys' and Girls' Clubs of Wales and Brian Davies of Caldicot who led the Welsh team as chef de mission at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow last year.
Mr Carroll was recognised for services to young people in Wales and Mr Davies for services to sport in Wales.
Chief Superintendent Ann Peters, who lives at Penallt near Monmouth and works for Avon and Somerset Police was awarded an MBE for services to policing.
Mr Daniels said he was "very humbled and very pleased" by the award but said it was more for the supporters of HOOF.
He said: "It's for all those people who turned out at the Speech House in the wind and the rain to send the government a message."
