A former Holsworthy Community College student is celebrating after graduating from university with top honours.
Rebecca Bromell has graduated from the University of Bristol with first class honours in Law.
After spending her formative years of secondary education at Holsworthy Community College, she attended Callywith College, based in Bodmin and praised the impact that her A-Level education had on her subsequent successes.
Her time at university included spending a week at Dr Martens’ legal team in Camden and undertaking pro-bono work for the university law clinic.
She said: “After three years of hard work, I am delighted to have graduated with a First Class Honours. My time at Bristol was incredibly fulfilling. Studying law was difficult at times but I enjoyed the academic challenge and the ability to get involved in so many extra-curricular activities.
“Notably, I had the opportunity to undertake pro-bono work for the university law clinic. This was a great opportunity to apply what I had learnt within my studies to help others in the community. It was extremely rewarding helping individuals who were in need of advice.
“I also took part in a mentorship programme where I was given a mentor at Dr. Martens. I spent a week with their legal team at their headquarters in Camden which was very cool. Above all else, I have made friends for life and have had a great 3 years in Bristol.
“Callywith played a pivotal role in my academic journey, providing me with the foundation necessary to succeed at university. The breadth of A Levels I studied equipped me with a well-rounded knowledge base and honed my analytical skills.
“My A Level Law Lecturer was especially instrumental in my success. Her encouragement to aim for top universities and her guidance throughout the application process were invaluable. Moreover, my involvement in the Bar Mock Trial whilst at Callywith, not only deepened my passion for law but also inspired me to participate in mooting at university, further shaping my legal aspirations.
“I am immensely grateful for the support I was given by all of my lecturers at Callywith and I can’t recommend the college enough.
“I have just started as a commercial litigation paralegal at an international law firm in Bristol and aim to specialise in commercial law upon qualification.”
