Several pens around 330ppk to a top of 333ppk from three vendors, AMW Johns, Sheepwash 46.2kgs £154, M Cox, Bullhead Farm, Winkleigh 40.4kgs £134, AF Anthony, Petrockstow 43kgs £143.

331ppk was achieved by A & J Hawkins, Hartland 39kgs £129. Top per head was £185 from CL Bellew & Sons, Abbots Bickington and a pen of heavies from Dufty Bros, Northlew made £176.

Small entry with a strong trade. Top being £131 from David Ford, Newton Tracey.

A lot more on offer saw several prospective buyers in attendance and met a flying trade.

Doubles to £350 for Texel x from Danny Norman, Dolton. Suffolk x Doubles to £335 from Ben Nicholls, Wadebridge, followed by £330 for a bunch of Suffolk x Doubles from David Stephens, Liskeard.

Singles topped at £260 for a Dorset from M Holden, Kilkhampton and Singles to £250 from Ben Nicholls, Wadebridge.

A good run of end of March scanned In Lamb ewes met a very fast trade from Colin Davey, Stoke Barton, Hartland. The Suffolk x 2T ewes to £270 and six pens of Mules 2T-4T ewes £250.

Top today was £2400 for three non FA British Blue steers from Mr J McInerin, Lifton. Other British Blues saw £2230 for a 23mth steer from Messrs NT, AE & MT Gear, Barnstaple, who sold other British Blues at £2010 (2).

Younger 18mth British Blues from Messrs H & M Thorne, Umberleigh £1920. Fleckvieh steers from Messrs NT, AE & MT Gear £2140 (2), £2040 (4), £1910 and £1900. Natives topped at £2100 for four 20mth organic Aberdeen Angus from Fryer Farming, High Bickington.

Best of the heifers this week was £1880 for a 30mth Norwegian Red x from Messrs GR & AE Pomeroy, Bradworthy. A 29mth Hereford heifer from Messrs NT, AE & MT Gear, Barnstaple sold well at £1870. Natives to £1790 from Messrs G & G Heal, Umberleigh 18mth.

Other Aberdeen Angus heifers from Messrs R Bowden & Son, Bridgrule £1700. Best of the British Blue heifers this week was £1690 for six 20mth heifers in store condition from MR SW Graham, Marhamchurch. Limousin heifers 17mths from Messrs CG & BA Dart & Son sold well at £1630.

Younger Stores

Top today was £1660 for two cracking coated Limousin steers from Messrs PE & CJ Isaac, Ashwater, who sold others to £1370 and heifers 10mths £1290.

Other young Limousins from Mr MJ Vickery, Kilkhampton £1400, with single suckled Limousin heifers from Mr S Vickery, Kilkhampton to £1230. Very young Limousins 8mths from Messrs DE & AM Olde, Morwenstow £900 (3).

Best of the British Blue steers to £1450 for three at 13mths from Mr MJ Vickery, Kilkhampton. Charolais topped at £1390 from Messrs CR & CF Timms & Son, Okehampton whose Charolais heifers sold well at £1300 (3).

Native steers to £1500 for three from Mr PK Saunders, Halwill who sold Aberdeen Angus heifers to £1420. Hereford heifers from Messrs CR & CF Timms & Son, Okehampton £1110 (3).

Few young single suckled from Messrs JAH & RH James, Bradworthy saw well farmed 8mth steers £1130 and heifers £1070. Some very young 5-6mth Holstein steers from Canal Farm Partnership, Holsworthy saw a flying trade at £580 and £520. More required.
