HOLSWORTHY Amateur Theatrical Society (HATS) is putting on ‘Pull the Other One’ – a fast paced comedy that should not be missed!
Written by Norman Robbins and read at a club night meeting, Lesley Wonnacott (director) knew it would go down well with the audiences. Whilst planning the set she realised the actors required more space during the run around sections. So Michael Wonnacott assisted by the stage crew designed and built the removable modular sections to enable the stage to fit over the orchestra pit, give lots more space and offer up versatility for future productions.
The simple 1960s set focuses the audience to the fabulous cast, humour, and great comedy timing that will transport you back to a northen home and society of the times.
The talented cast have worked extremely hard to bring this play to life, with excellent timing, humour and costumes to suit the era.
Albert Perkins played by Matt Long, is blessed with a loving wife, Muriel, played by Becky Gear, and cursed with a fearsome mother-in-law, Boadicea played by Sue Painter. When his friend writes to him reminiscing about the good times they used to have, Boadicea reads the letter and determines to remove her daughter immediately from the clutches of this awful sex-fiend son-in-law.
Albert has a hard time explaining that the letter is perfectly innocent, but isn’t helped when Hilary turns up. Wilf Turner, played by Michael Wonnacott is the friendly neighbour who gets caught up in the farce and Reverand Nookey, played by Mark Venner adds to the chaos when introduced to local art student Miss Brown, played by Lizzie Hobbs and once Mr Armitage, played by Piers Husband arrives expect a fast paced runaround to take place!
