A school spokesperson said: “Under her leadership, the academy has seen academic success, with the number of students achieving a grade 4 or higher in GCSE English or maths significantly above the national average in 2023. “As principal she has also led on a number of significant improvements in equipment and opportunities at the school, including new building works for science and modern foreign language classrooms and the development of industry-standard cooking facilities as part of the academy’s successful Professional Cookery qualification.” With Ms Burn due to retire at the end of this academic year, the academy has already begun the recruitment process for their next head teacher. Discussing her time at the school Ms Burn said: “I feel very privileged to have led Launceston College for the past five years and am honoured to have been a part of so many students’ and colleagues’ successes — I am so proud of what we have all achieved together.
