The Boscastle 'Harbour Happenings' event was held recently. The annual event is run by the churches of the six parishes in the circuit — Boscastle, Davidstow, Otterham, St Juliot, Lewnewth and Trevalga. The day kicked off with a eucharist service, held outside on the lawn, attended by some 80 people. This was followed by a fete, in aid of church funds. There were performances by the Bodmin College Jazz Orchestra and the Marhamchurch Ladies Handbell group, as well as stocks, smashing china and various other stalls. A number of organisations were also invited to have a stall at the event, and these included Fair Trade and the Coastwatch. In the region of £1,650 was raised. Rev Michael Parsons said: "It's the most we've ever raised and considering the weather wasn't brilliant, it was great. I think everybody had a good time." In the evening, the service had to be moved to the Methodist Chapel due to the inclement weather, and £80 was raised, which will be donated to the RNLI.
