FANS of Red Bull BMX star Kye Forte have lavished praise on his Green Acres event near Ipplepen on Saturday.

The world record holder, who hails from Kingsteignton and now lives in Newton Abbot, staged the competition at the Wrigwell Estate.

It featured professional riders from both sides of the Atlantic but also provided an opportunity for amateurs to turn up and take part.

Some 500 people attended, the track action being supported by live bands, children's entertainment, food and drink. Afterwards Kye took to social media to thank everyone who attended.

He said: 'Huge turnout for #greenacresjam yesterday. Thanks to everyone who helped out. 'Thanks for everyone who came out and supported our event and all the riders that travelled so far. I think everyone who was there can see it was a success.'

Fans quickly returned the thanks. Among the many posts pjturns said: 'Amazing atmosphere, thank you.' Bmp201 said: 'Great times @kyeforte bmx as it should be. Please do it again next year.' Mtaylor_bmx said: 'Awesome time thanks @kyeforte for a rad day.'

On Tuesday Kye told the Advertiser: 'People really seem to have liked it and have asked if we'll do it again. 'I'm not sure yet as we have to work out whether we've lost or made money but I should think we'll do it again.

'People who stayed for the evening were really shocked at just how good the bands were and we've other musicians now asking if they can take part.

'It feels a bit strange really, this was just an idea I had and now it's taken off, it's unreal.'
