Sir, On the evening of Saturday, June 13, I was walking with my wife on the sea side of St. Govan's Chapel at St. Govan's Point, Pembroke, when I slipped and broke my left ankle. I would be grateful if I could pass on my thanks and also those of my wife Pauline, for the excellent assistance that we received. To the lady and her two sons who initially came to my assistance and then remained with my wife until I was airlifted to Morriston Hospital with the Sea King from RMB Chivenor. To the ambulance crew from Pembroke who set up the rescue procedures for my safe removal from the incident. To the Bosherton Coastguard/Cliff Rescue team, who not only remained throughout the whole procedure, but ensured that my wife was safely returned to our holiday cottage at Pembroke Dock, after I had left the scene. To the gentleman who was with his three European friends rock climbing in the area and were prepared to carry me from the scene should the Air Sea Rescue not be available. I was in Morriston Hospital until June 16, during which time I was operated on for a broken ankle. Thankfully, I was able to return to Pembroke for the remainder of the week, but I am now back home in Gloucester. Once again my sincere thanks to everyone. I don't what we would have done without their assistance and care for we could get no mobile phone coverage, from the scene of the accident or on top of the cliff. God bless you all.

Brian and Pauline Smith,

Gloucester
