There was an especially good attendance at the Kilkhampton parish War Memorial for the two minutes silence and presentation of wreaths by representatives of various parish clubs and organisations.
Rev Richard Ward-Smith was in charge of devotions, the Legion flag was carried by a young cadet, and a cornet sounded for The Last Post and Reveille.
A spokesperson said: “We also honoured King Charles by singing the National Anthem. Those who wished proceeded to the Methodist Church where the service was led by Rev Simon Leigh with assistance of Rev Ward-Smith.
“The Willis organ was ably played by Luke Francis who opened with the Legion Hymn ‘O Valiant Hearts’, and the Church choir attended. Chair of the Parish Council, Clive Vanstone read the Binyon poem; others took part.
“At the close we moved to the school room for a social gathering with coffee and biscuits.”
