Four friends from Camelford are taking on a 72-hole golfing challenge in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. 

Jack Buckley, George Buckley, Simon Hobbs and Max Stockwell, are taking part in Prostate Cancer UK’s ‘The Big Golf Race’. The team will be challenged to take on four rounds of 18 holes of golf in a single day. 

This comes as the charity urge men around the country to grab their clubs, round up their mates and “help save dads, grandads, brothers, and friends from a disease killing one man every 45 minutes.” 

With the event taking place on June 20, at Bowood Park Golf Club, Jack, George, Simon and Max will using all their spare time to limber up those arms and practice their swing. 

Nicola Tallett, director of fundraising and supporter engagement at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “We’re delighted with how many golfers, clubs and partners have embraced The Big Golf Race and helped to build it into a fun yet challenging way of helping to beat prostate cancer. 

“It’s a disease killing one man every 45 minutes – roughly the time it takes to play three holes of golf – and it sadly exists in every golf club. 

“But with the support of golfers like Jack, George, Simon, Max and the thousands of others like them who have conquered The Big Golf Race, we’re able to continue to fund research into better tests and treatment for prostate cancer and keep men in the game for longer.”
